View Full Version : [ubuntu] Screen turns off on boot from HDD or LiveCD

I'm completely stuck here.

Completely seems like a video card issue. I am using onboard video, Nvidia GeForce 4 MX Integrated GPU.

When I attempt to boot from the CD, absolutely nothing comes up on the screen, the monitor turns off (I get the "Off mode in 5 seconds") and I can hear it continuing in the background.

I tried installing in XP to run alongside, so now on boot I get the option of boot into XP or Ubuntu, and nothing ever happens when I install into ubuntu. Blank screen. No password entry, no spash screen, nothing.

I tried hitting Esc to load alternately, tried Normal mode, Safe graphic mode, ACPI workarounds (scrolls a lot of text then screen turns off), Verbose mode (Same thing, scrolls text then screen turns off).

The only thing that works is to hit c to get to command line GNU Grub. I have no idea what I need to do

Help!

Thanks in advance!
