Copy gnome panel settings/shortcuts

Curious if there is a simple way to duplicate a gnome panel?

for example I have a laptop that I sometimes plug in a 2nd monitor for, when I do I would like to have top & bottom panels duplicate onto the 2nd monitor

any way to do this without manually adding everything?

found some of the settings under
~/.gnome2

I use a script from here (http://www.starryhope.com/linux/ubuntu/2010/restore-the-default-panels-in-ubuntu/) which allows you to set the panels back to default or a saved config.
