View Full Version : [SOLVED] Ubuntu 10.10 netbook boot failure Aspire One

November 12th, 2010, 10:14 PM
Decided to ditch Acer Linux on my Aspire One netbook 512 Mb, 8 Gb SSD

Downloaded latest Ubuntu netbook ISO and setup USB stick to install as per instructions on the net. All went fine until... Booted "Live CD option" and system hung with "X' logo in middle of screen.

Decided to try 10.4 LTS full install. Worked perfectly, no problems and I have a very useable Linux installation, rather than Acer's pretty, but restricted rework.

As this is the first time I have done a USB linux install, and the first time I have loaded linux on my Acer, I might have made a mistake, and latest Ubuntu might work fine on this model... Feedback welcome here

However if others have the problem, then 10.4 LTS standard release works well... Note I have not tried wireless networking yet as I use wired internet... Should I check this I will post further
