10.10 gives black screen when trying to install

I tried to install Ubuntu 10.10, got to the Ubuntu screen with 5 red & white dots and then got a black screen, and nothing happens!

I'm on a i3-530 on Asrock P55Pro-USB3

Try the workarounds suggested here:

If this does not help, then I would recommend just installing Ubuntu from the alternate install CD. This should bypass any graphics related problems during the install.

Turns out it was a dodgy cd burner.
