Have Ubuntu 10.10 on now. Love it works fine, yada yada. Going to put Win7 Ultimate on as well , but I want to back up my current config so I can reinstall without have to get all my apps/customize again. Will APTonCD work, or will I have to become a terminal guru to do this? Disk Snapshot is nice for windows/mac, does something like that exist for Linux?

What is the point of doing a re-install?

But, yes, AptOnCD will work, if all you want to do is backup your installed applications. If you want to back up your config files too, you should back up your home directory, including all your hidden files and folders.

You can create a custom installation disc by using Remastersys as well.

Clonezilla is another handy backup solution.

APTonCD will just backup the installed packages for future installs. Not the configuration and settings....
