In particular, I have a friend who switched to Linux from OS X and one of the things he misses is being able to open a file manager and have it display exactly what you were looking at last time: if you were working in tree view and were three levels into the tree, that is what you would see next time you open the file manager.

Is there anything like this around for Linux? I did a bit of looking around and tried a couple of the file managers I hadn't used before (Nautilus Elementary and PCManFM, but so far no luck.
