I'm looking for a new mobile phone.
I'm looking for (Listed by priority, highest to lowest)
1:A good camera
2:Wi-Fi
3:A qwerty touchpad.
I don't care about 3G, 4G or anything related to accessing a mobile network
I'm not too fussed with storage space, anything >512mb is fine.
and I want to know what the linux scene is and possibly the cheapest way to get android on it (I don't like android but this phone is for my girlfriend, who does)
Price range <£180
Anybody have any good news about the quality of the Samsung I5500 photos?
It's quite important, this is going to record my pregnant wife/baby

Contract? PAYG? Or do you already have a SIM to stick in it and you're looking to buy just the phone?

Prefer Pay and go, I have a sim card and don't use phones that much to warrant a contract as I'll be paying more than if I just went with a phone.

Please remember that if taking pictures is quite important, that you dont take the phone with the highest Mega Pixels. Since a phone with higher Mega Pixels can take worse pictures then a phone with lower. The reason is that the lens has a big deal in taking good pictures. And this along with the camera need to be of decent quality.

Recently bought Tmobile pulse a.k.a Huawei U8220 Android for £99 pay as you go for my brother - more info http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_U8220. With 2.1 android it is better than my HTC hero but doesn't have a great camera. Unlocked for £12 and now running orange.

I learned that lesson some time ago, My phone (2mp) and my girlfriends phone (also 2mp) take very noticeably different quality photos.
They both have the same resolution (2mp) but one looks like it failed to render it properly and got stuck in 8bit colour :(

My advise : take one with a camera, because barcode is gonna be THE HYPE next year : http://barcodenerds.blogspot.com/2010/11/business-finally-discovering-beauty-of.html
Here you can download the free neoreader : http://www.neoreader.com/get-neoreader/wap-download onto your smartphone, and then create your own website into a barcode icon :

Some people already make it to pay respects to their dearly :

Go to phone store and check the camera's yourself. Any one person's idea of good can be radically different from the next.
As for anything else. I'm in the USA where the phone industry is way different. A model here might not be available to you or have a different feature list.

This seems to be a good deal. Or you could try the HTC Wildfire for 129.99 on Vodafone

Hope this helps.
