Epson Perfection no longer works in 10.10

device `epson2:libusb:001:016' is a Epson Perfection610 flatbed scanner

Scan error is returned in gscan2pdf saying 'invalid argument'

Simple Scan says 'failed to scan' and 'unable to start scan'

Scanning always worked with previous versions - what changed?
