According to the how to guide there should be a disk for sparc https://help.ubuntu.com/10.10/installation-guide/sparc/installation-howto.html but I only see one for x86 and x64? I read somewhere that Ubuntu no longer has sparc, but the link seems to be for 10.10 so I am confused!

Beyond my expertise, but, the Canonical site has reference to the folowing documentation:

Ubuntu Installation Guide
This document contains installation instructions for the Ubuntu 10.10 system
(codename Maverick Meerkat), for the SPARC (sparc) architecture. ...

Hope this helps.

Thanks, but the link I provided was to that documentation. They link to a site that page how to get the disk. That page links to another, but it only has x86 (32 bit and 64 bit).

Where to Find Installation Images
The installation images are located on each Ubuntu mirror in the directory ubuntu/dists/maverick/main/installer-sparc/current/images/ — the MANIFEST lists each image and its purpose.
I see what you mean - the link to the sparc images is dead! t probably is not available yet.
