hi

I have a dual monitor setup, and I usually set that to no-image and make it "black" to save energy...

It would be really nice if there was a way to embed a text document which can be dynamically updated using some sort of gnome-applet. and could serve as the whiteboard I use in my office to write down some mnemonics, or tasks to do etc...

Personally I would like to have a "big font" like we use on the whiteboard, and dont mind if that is a image, however should be easily update-able...

does anyone know if any such thing already exists ?

If I understand what you are asking correctly then Conky is the application you are looking for. I am however not sure if it supports the reading of a txt file via its standard configuration or if a script is required.
