Start up hangs after hibernate or suspend

I just upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 and now the only way to get ubuntu to start up is if I first shut down and then power up or push restart. Hibernate and Suspend hang once I try to start back up again and I am forced to hold the power button to shut down and then press it again to power up.

Any suggestions/solutions?
