Custom installation

Hello everybody,

I would like to install Ubuntu 10.10 on a PC/104 machine that is limited to 2gb hard disk. Can I perfom a custom installation? I mean, I would like to select the packages on my own as I was able to do on old Red Hat distributions.

Do I have to install alternate or server edition?
