Hello,

I am new to this but have had previous experience with installing ubuntu 10.10 PC ver.

Lately I got a new TOSHIBA M645 with an intel arrandale 64Bit Core i5 proccessor.

I tired installing 10.10 netbook which crashed on 2 different installations.

Can some on tell me what the best ubuntu for my Netbook be?

And what would be the difference between:

1. Marvell Dove netbook live image (http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/ubuntu-10.04-netbook-armel+dove.img)
For Dove boards.

AND
2. Freescale i.MX51 netbook live image (http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/ubuntu-10.04-netbook-armel+imx51.img)For i.MX51 boards.Thanx,

JadeYe.

You dont give a lot of details on the "crashes", so it might be something trivial to fix, but 10.10 netbook remix uses unity, a rather new GUI which isnt quite very.. ready. At least it doesnt work with all hardware yet. Id suggest you install a regular 10.10 desktop edition (you can add the netbook interface later to test it if you like it), or the 10.04 netbook remix which uses the older netbook interface.

Those two things you linked, you want neither. That is for ARM processors (tablets, smartphones, and the like). Wouldnt work on a regular PC.

Thanx guys for you prompt reply.
Is the 10.10 stable enough or rather I install the 10.04 netbook remix?

One more question:
Is it possible to install to a seperate partition?
If yes, is there a guide to side by side on a seperate partition installation?

Thanx again,

Why dont you just try? You can try either version by just running them from the cd. It all depends on the specifics of your hardware.

Thats the default installation mode. You probably wont need a guide, the process is very straightforward. Just burn the ISO file a blank cd and boot from it. Try ubuntu first. if it seems to work, there is an installation icon on the desktop.

But if you want, have a look here:
