Right now I've got a computer(1TB HD) with 500gig(NTFS) that I

partitioned in ubuntu 10.04(default install) whilest the second, around

500gig, partition is ubuntu and swap in a logical partition. now when I

insert the windows 7 pro x64 dvd it shows me the 'loading files' screen,

then what I presume is the splash screen where it just freezes and sits

there(just a black screen with the words 'Starting Windows' and copyright

at the bottom). all I've got plugged into my computer is a mouse,

keyboard, DVI for viedo, and ethernet lan/internet. since I read around

other forums and such that I should have the minimum amount of

peripherals plugged in. Now I've used this disk to install win7 before on

the same hardware, with the same peripherals(plus some extra) I have no

reason to believe it is my computer, but the dvd has no marks or

scratches, or any physical abnormalities. So this has me stumped,

I also tried to reset the CMOS using the jumper, but that didn't seem to

work. I've got some dvd-r laying around, and a copy of the win7 iso, but

before I go wasting a clean dvd, I was wondering if there might be

something I overlooked.

Edit: Now I got fed up with windows and am doing anything that comes to mind. So I got rid of the partition

table and set it to format only about 450gig for ntfs. the rest is as of now unallocated, if this doesn't

work I'm gonna rid myself of the entire partition table and try it from scratch.
