Hi,

I have just installed 10.10 on my test setup (Sony NW20ZF Laptop installed on external USB HD), but I have encountered the following issues

1. When booting the CD after I get to the gui with the options to Try Ubuntu or Install if I choose to try Ubuntu rthe curse changes to a round cursor and nothing else happens (I have left it for over an hour with no joy)

2. I have found if from the boot menu if I choose install then I can at least install Ubuntu, but after installing I get the following message when I try to boot

Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported for the first word
TAB lists possible completions, anywhere else TAB lists possible
devices for file completions

GRUB >

to me it looks like the installer hasn't configured GRUB correctly, but as I have never played with GRUB I wouldn't have a clue how to fix this or more importantly why the installer hasn't configured it correctly.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Gavin,

I have just picked up the latest Ubuntu User magazine and tried doing an install with the disk form there and it has now worked fine, so I can only assume that my CD had not written correctly and that is what caused the problems.
