hi all,
I recently downloaded ubuntu netbook 10.10 and there is no icons showing on the desktop.
When i go into my files and folders and look in the desktop folder there are numerous items and folders in there. also, when i log into the desktop edition the items show up on the desktop.
Anybody got any ideas?????

netbook does not use the desktop.
mutter the current unity ui is on top of the desktop, it draws everything, background & panels.

Yes, it totally lost me as well, so I went back to 10.04; and now I know where everything is.

netbook 10.04 doesn't use the desktop either, that has netbook-launcher on the desktop. :)

Yes, I realise that, but the 10.10 UNR desktop still lost me very quickly.

In fact I decided that I prefer the gnome desktop anyway, and also the LTS status of 10.04.
