I have a two or three year old Compaq Presario F700 with dual AMD Turion 64x2 processors and 2 G RAM. Would there be an advantage to installing 64 bit 10.10? When I installed 10.04, the general consensus seemed to be that the 32 bit as better - more stable, etc. Having "upgraded" to 10.10, I find it dramatically slower and wonder if the 64 bit install would help.

Unless you need one or more 32-bit hardware drivers, I would use 64-bit. I've used it for years and haven't experienced any stability issues.

I disagree; I ran 64-bit Ubuntu w/ 2GB RAM for quite some time. Particularly if one does audio/video encoding, performance is demonstrably faster.
