What happened to "windicators"?

Hiya everyone, i noticed when canonical moved window gadgets from right to left side of windows, Mark Shuttleworth stated it was to make room for "other stuff" (windicators). Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 have been released since but theres still no sign of them, have they been scrapped?

I can't find any recent articles about windicators, not even one about it being delayed. I suspect that they are still planning on including them in a future release, considering they haven't moved the buttons back to the right.
