View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installation stops

Hello,
I am trying to install Ubuntu 10.04 for the first time on a desktop machine. Before that I installed OpenSUSE11.3 on the same machine without any problems. But ubuntu, when I choose "install" after booting from CD, displays some string messages and then stops without any messgaes and without any activity of the CD-drive. The last thing that it displays is something like this:

Generating locale...
_name_of_the_locale_(do_not_remember_exactly)... done.
Generation complete.

And that's all. You could wait for half an hour - nothing happens.

If I choose "try ubuntu without installing", it also fails, saying that "init not found, try passing init= bootarg". I wrote that in boot options, but it didn't help.

The machine is quite new, with Supermicro motherboard and two Nvidia Tesla cards.
