View Full Version : [ubuntu] Trouble using live cd or install

I have a custom built AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.42Ghz, GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5 AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
, 8GB Corsair Ram, 1T WD SATA HDD, Nvidia GTX285 Video, Samsung DVD+R, Realtek Gigabit Ethernet, High Def Audio, Dual Monitor with Windows 7 x64 installed wanting to dual boot Ubuntu 10.10 x64, however it will not boot to live cd or install inside windows. I posted the spec's hoping maybe so help or should i just forget it?

You do have BIOS set to boot Cd first ahead of HDD correct.
Talk about inside of Windows is WUBI install and that does not take booting off of cd
just pop it in tray and choose WUBI and answer a couple of questions and hit install.

No, its boots to cd just fine and starts the process , just never finishes, just hangs up, never gives me any info for anything, just stops. I use the cd on other systems and it worked fine, just not mine.

Also i installed in windows mode and it works until the first reboot and then nothing...

Can you boot it and choose Try Ubuntu and work off the CD?
