View Full Version : [ubuntu] Partition Space Increase

Like the title says , i want to increase space to a partition .
when i installed ubuntu i partitioned the hdd and gave ubuntu 30gb. now i want to increase even more the space for ubuntu. the other part of the partitioned hdd has windows installed and dual boots. now i tried with Gparted but probably i dont know how to use the programm to do what i want so i ask for your help.

The Ubuntu OS needs maybe 4.5GB of space. Why do you think you need more than 30GB?

You didn't say which version of Windows. If it is Vista or later, you need to (a) run defrag in Windows, and (b) use the Windows partition manager to shrink the Windows partition. Once the Windows partition is shrunk, then you can use GParted to enlarge the Ubuntu partition.

well its vista edition , i wanna increase the capacity because im planning to use it as a main OS
