64 bit Intel MB and Core 2 processor, 8GB ram, running for years, now on W7. However I cannot get an Ubuntu install on it. It hangs showing "system-call-fastpath..."

My 32 bit Ubuntu 10.10 CD installed perfectly on other computers.Synopis
My 64 bit 10.10 CD hangs at the same place.

Synopsis: Known good computer will not load known good CD

Where shall I begin searching?

Could you post your PC specs to include brand name and titles?

You booted the disk and ran the disk check?

Thanks for replying.

Intel MB DG35EC; Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 8 GB ram
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT Video Card, Dual Monitors
Neither disk will check, hang with flashing cursor or moving logo dots.

As the 32 bit 10.10 CD has multiple successful installs, is it a computer configuration issue? A 32 bit OS should install on a 64 bit MB, right?
