GNOME & KDE in parallel

I know you can install GNOME and KDE at the same time, and switch back and forth.

However, I don't like to see KDE apps in GNOME, and GNOME apps in KDE.

Is there a way to set up the desktop environments so that they don't see each others' apps?

I can't help you with the Gnome part, but in KDE's menu editor you can choose "Only show in KDE" for any menu item.

There are two apps you can use. Gnome Menu Extended and K Menu Gnome which will group the apps together depending on you DE.

Other than that you could install Ubuntu Gnome on one partition and Ubuntu KDE on another.
