View Full Version : [all variants] release DVD contents -- now vs. then

Lucid appeared in April 2010. If I fetch a DVD iso during September (or later) of 2010, do I get different contents?
Another way to ask this might be: How often do the iso files get "re mastered" (or similar) after a given release enters the wild?
Merci d'avance,

I don't know the answer.
But I do know that I've downloaded releases months after the initial release, but I still have LOTS of updates (including kernel) to do once installed.
That has always led me to believe they don't change once posted. But I could easily be wrong on that. My experience is just that there is always lots of updating to do even if I install a 6 month old release that I download today.

The LTS release ISOs get updated every 4-6 months. 10.04.1 is the current release.
This link (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases) shows 8.04 getting a new ISO version every 6 months, so I'd say that we can expect the same for 10.04.
