I'm trying to install a Dell 850 with Ubuntu, but during the installation, the partition manager fails to see the drives. I have tried with both the Serial ATA that comes with the 850, and I've tried to use an Adaptec 1220 card with my two drives mirrored. Neither card helps the installation by making the drives available to partition. I've gone to the Dell & Adaptec websites which seem to indicate driver support should be built into the Linux kernel. Can someone indicate how I can get this installation completed? Thanks.
An added piece is when the install comes up it tells me it can't find any drives, so I'm not sure whether the problem is the drives or the controller.
