View Full Version : [ubuntu] File list on desktop?

Hi, I have been playing with conky of late which I have managed to get running just how I'd like it, I am now at the next step of my desktop customisation.

Is it possible to have the files which I save to my desktop appear as a file list? I would preferably prefer them to be in their own 'pane' (for want of a better word) so that I can place them on the opposite side of the desktop to conky.

No real reason, just wanting to make things a little more accessible and tidy. I have tried using screenlets but they seem rather buggy and will only allow me to use icon view which is what I'm trying to escape.

Thanks in advance.

If I want to see a list of files, I run Nautilus.

This is neither helpful nor constructive. I speak of desktop customisation, not a lesson in how to use the operating system in general.

Does anybody have any actual helpful/constructive ideas?
