I can't install Ubuntu (10.10) on my desktop pc. I tried 4 different cds (they might be scratched) and it's the same thing.
I ran already MemTest and there were no problems.

Everything is ok until i want to install, press Forward and it says "connected to AC power, 2GB free disk...", then i press Forward again and it freezes completely.

It's not so old my pc, i have Win 7 Ultimate on it (i had Ubuntu 7.04 before and worked fine).

RAM: 512mb
Processor: Intel P4 - 2.4 Ghz

Something similar happened to me yesterday, and reseting bios settings to default solved the problem for me. Worth a try :)

Well, i'm gonna try, even that i don't understand what's the connection between that.

Well, bios affects your hardwares, for example sata raids, dvd drives, etc. which the installer is using. I can't tell from here what's the exact problem with yours.

Have you tried installing Ubuntu from an USB drive? Give it a try if you can

I have the same problem on my netbook, a Toshiba NB205 (2gb RAM - 1.66GHz Intel N280 Atom).

I'm about to give up on Linux and just re-install W7 again.

Yes, it's really sad and strange.
I'm thinking about installing 10.4 and then upgrade the whole system (even that it's gonna take me about half a day), will it work?
