Mine is pretty basic as I just installed Ubuntu for the first time a day or so ago. (:

Truth be told, I am no fan of docks. I don't want my Ubuntu to look too much like that other OS. But I'm trying it now, just for the heck of it. Nothing special. I like it clean and simple

Well I figured by the orientation of the screenshot that you could see that it's a mobile device. ^_^

Details are in my signature. The only thing I added were the icons that I got from gnome-look I believe and a Halloween wallpaper that I found was fairly evil looking.

lol, grown old,
or just reached a 'happy place'. :P

Ive found myself not changing my desk too much in the past couple/few months either.
Just slight changes here and there,
I think Im just finally getting it to be exactly how I want it,
once that happens..
no need to really change much. lol

awhile back, there was always at least one thing that I would want to be different, but lately finding that happens less and less. lol :P

It's funny, cause sometimes I find some screenshots of my Desktop from 2 or 3 years ago buried in my hd, when I was making my first steps with linux.
It was like a circus: docks, screenlets, desklets, panels, icons, hiddeous conky scripts, etc.
Beginner's enthusiasm I guess - besides, I didn't have the knowledge to tinker with anything else than my desktop these days.
With time, I removed more and more features until I've settled down with something that suits me well.
Tinkering of course has moved to other more demanding (and dangerous) parts of my system.:P

http://ompldr.org/vNjBheg (http://ompldr.org/vNjBheQ)

Tweaking as usual. Playing with sunken menu items. Matching AWN style, semi-transparent panel. I think I'm pretty happy with this now. I half re-wrote the GTK - most widgets have their own separate text .rc file for easy editing and swapping between different styles. I've got a couple of additional menustyles, scrollbars and panel styles planned. Fixed a lot of issues. So big update tomorrow I guess... I should be asleep now.

GTK: Victory (Strikes Again) (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Victory+(Strikes+Again)?content=123936)
Icons: Elementary (http://danrabbit.deviantart.com/art/elementary-Icons-65437279)

Menu: Cardapio
Global Menu: indicator-applet-appmenu
Wallpaper: I dunno, I got it off of the Garry's Mod blog after much searching. If it helps (not that it will) the filename is 4c2a77de650bb.jpg

@Spice Weasel, I'm wondering what screen res you have that you can afford such a large sidebar (and wishing I could see that shot with better resolution)?

1280x1024 (sometimes 1400x1050 when I'm in the mood). It doesn't bother me, and I feel that it increases my productivity quite a lot. Besides, we have too many horizontal pixels nowadays.

Nope, not a typo. There are two different icon sets: "Faenza-Dark" and "Faenza Dark". "Faenza Dark" is a modification of Faenza-Dark to have light rather than dark toolbar/action icons. From Here: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=132327

Ive still got a couple things to figure out when I wake up,
and I might have a couple of questions for you. lol
but this is great man,.. really great!
Thanks! If your not using nautilus elementary, you probably want to use just normal gtk-breadcrumbs.
Inside the "[THEME]/gtk-2.0/Styles/" directory, edit the nautilus.rc which corresponds to the theme [A-New-Hope = nautilus-dark.rc | TESB = nautilus-III.rc | ROTJ = nautilus-light.rc]. Scroll to the bottom and delete the last line which will be something along the lines of 'include "Breadcrumbs/breadcrumb-dark.rc"'.
Save the file.
Reload the theme.
Voila! GTK style breadcrumbs.

perfect perfect perfect! Your themes are boss man <333

Thanks. I'm not very fond of Xfwm; Openbox gives me more control, and since I have Openbox already configured to my liking, I don't need to reconfigure another window manager to get it to do what I want it to.

Nice, do you like to publish your color and plasma scheme and qtcurve config?

I would but I literally have 0 time to support any bugs that may come up: the plasma theme is in my git repo here: http://gitorious.org/mnml-dark

Clone that if you wish, but again no being surprised if I suddenly commit pink unicorns as an overlay.

As for the qtcurve file I am still working on the background svg. Again I am sorry but will post it when its a tiny bit more stable, and a bit less ugly.

Color scheme also need a tweak but essentially I will put it up on kde look under the name MegaD.

It is just one or two very small things that I was wondering last night,
but at the moment escapes me...
(so couldnt have been to darn important)
and I am sitting at my own PC right now.
:P lol

I do plan on asking you *something* though,
just unsure what it will be exactly.. lol
I want to simplify it before I go asking though,

dont wanna do the same to anyone else..

I can't live without my breadcrumbs and tabs. I love the fact that I can drag files onto the breadcrumb bar and move them that way - combined with tabs and split-pane, there isn't much more I want in a file browser. I don't remember the last time I typed out a location in a file browser. If I was going to type, I would rather press Ctrl+L than pointing the mouse at the location bar then switching to keyboard.

That's one of my favorites, and one of my favorite wallpapers (you made it, right?). You have a gradient on the selected items, right? A minor detail, but it might be cool if you switched direction on it to match the gradient on your icons, or the other way around. Then again it might make it look too uniform. Great compositing, those windows look like they're 3/4" off the desktop:^)

Hey Rasa (and other fans of A New Hope), just released an update with improved Metacity (the maximised rounding looks good now + unfocussed text is darker). Also, you will notice there is now an install script which customises the theme. No more multiple themes - just a simple Graphical script to customise the theme. Just Extract, Double click install.sh, select run and follow the dialog prompts. Doesn't even need to be run in a terminal. :D :D

the Icon theme is awoken,

here is the download link to my theme pack, I'v never made a theme pack before so tell me if anything isn't working. for the conky script I cheated on four lines, so you will need to update those lines to match your system. you will also need some kind of composting for cairo-dock.

ohh wow! Niiiice!

So, should I remove the other one first? ?dumb question? lol

Thanks soo much man!

Hi Mark76,
The panels are included in the theme download, you just right click on your panel then click on properties, then click on background image radial then browse to the theme folder a choose one of the panels in the panel folder.

I downloaded the theme from here: http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=Divergence#/d316eqx

I am in the midst of mixing KDE and Gnome looks together. That's my project for the weekend :-)

So here we go...

Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat

Gtk: Orta
Metacity: none
Emerald: customized version of Air, which I'll rename as Orta if the creator of the Gtk agrees
Nautilus: nautilus elementary (ppa)
Icons: faenza Cupertino
Docks: docky (ppa)
Cursor: KDE white in the repos

Fonts:
Ubuntu 8
Ubuntu 9 semi-bold for titles
monaco 9 for terminal

background: Confused Penguin

All themes and mods can be found on gnome-look.org and/or deviantart.com.

If you want the emerald theme I made, please PM me. As always, questions and comments are welcome.

Have a great day!

Thanks for the wall. Love it. Did you install the latest emerald themes. I thought I managed to fix that issue. I can't replicate it any more. In Emerald Theme Manager > Edit Themes > Titlebar "Title-bar object layout" should read: [code](6)CNR(8)T(24)::M(4)[/code

Mine was (6)CNR(6)T::M(4) :P Yeah they weren't the latest version, I reinstalled the theme, but I forgot about reinstalling the emeralds.

Alright now I can set my audacious to display the playlist like normal again, thanks.

Not an Ubuntu user, but I just HAD to register when I saw this. Looks really sweet!! Has just the right amount of pop for a low contrast tiling setup yet appears very usable. One of the best. :KS

Eyedropping would make it feel like I was stealing without permission, so could you please, PLEASE paste your ~/.Xdefaults 0-15 colors?
Also; your MOC theme looks like a custom config. Could you possibly pastebin that as well?

Loving your term prompt too.

Thank You,

I wasn't sure if I was even going to make a new screenie this month until I saw which wall came up in the rotation. As a friend of mine called it, a good New Orleans breakfast. Hi, this is nice.

I like the way you do it. pls help :P

Hi c00lwaterz,
Sure,
First you have to be using "TESB/or "the empire strikes back" version of the theme.
If you installed the theme from the first download,
before jurialmunkey updated the file with the new installer,
you should be able to find it in your theme preference window.
something like "A New Hope - TESB" .

Or, if you install it from the new installer,
you can just choose "the empire strikes back" version to start with, so when the theme is applied, it will go directly to the dark version.

To change the background/window color..
go to "edit" menu,
then "backgrounds and emblems"
174957

in backgrounds and emblems,
choose the "colors" 'tab'..
174958

Then,
you can either choose one of the colors already there,
or you can 'make' your own color, with the "add a new color" button @ bottom.

Once you have the color you want, in the color window,
you simply "Drag" it over into/onto your folder background.
See the "Hope" color in mine?
174959

You would just grab that, and drag it into the 'folder',
and the background will change to that color.

hope that helps. <3

go to "edit" menu,
then "backgrounds and emblems"
174957

in backgrounds and emblems,
choose the "colors" 'tab'..
174958

Then,
you can either choose one of the colors already there,
or you can 'make' your own color, with the "add a new color" button @ bottom.

Once you have the color you want, in the color window,
you simply "Drag" it over into/onto your folder background.
See the "Hope" color in mine?
174959

You would just grab that, and drag it into the 'folder',
and the background will change to that color.

hope that helps. <3

Yes, it helped me alot!

thanks :P

Now, it is much better hehe. I already stop using the compiz, because of my fan not working properly on linux. so this is my alternative to make my desktop beautiful. Im now satisfied with tweaking themes.:P

@Rasa: You should use the Nautilus Gnome option instead of the Nautilus Elementary option so your breadcrumbs look nice. Also, the latest version is really much faster! :D
