My upgrade to 10.10 from 10.04 failed. It hung for about 4 hours, wouldn't respond to any input.

What do I do now?

a fresh install is best. there is a huge change in the ui, are you sure 10.10 is what you want?

it requires 3d vid card, some find it slow, some find it to locked down, some just say its incomplete.

do a forum search, read up, know what your getting.

I agree fully with kerry_s.

I have looked at the 10.10 UNR and find the new unity desktop completely unintuitive compared to 10.04. For me it does not matter as I don't use the UNR desktop anyway, but go to the standard gnome desktop from the login screen.

At the moment I have Linux Mint 10, based on maverick, on my netbook. It's still in rc version, but very stable and seems to work faultlessly with the normal mint gnome desktop, ie a single panel at the bottom. Give it a try; you may like it as well.
