View Full Version : [ubuntu] Cairo-Doc, how do I remove this black square background?

See screen, if my wife logs in then it doesn't show, jus under my login, weird b/c it was working without this back square last night.

Cairo settings look the same for both users.

here's how Cairo-Dock looks under the wife's loginid, just the way i want it.

It seems you have compositing disabled.

Go to System>Preferences>Apperance, and click on the Visual Effects Tab. You can select either Normal or Extra, Extra if you have a decent computer. That should enable compositing-you may have to restart Cairo-Dock.

ahhh, that did it.....


thanks, i guess i had changed that setting under my id, it was set to "None", changed to "Normal" and working fine.

Learning Ubuntu and loving it more every day, thanks to you guys supporting all of us noobs...!!!:P

You might also want to delete your bottom panel as well. Just right click over the bottom panel and click 'delete this panel'. Might help to tidy your desktop and make it less cluttered.
