HI, Im new to Ubuntu, have downloded and saved 10.04 to disc, put into new machine with clean HD. Wont boot up. hacv changed bios to make CD 1st boot choice, still no boot.
Then installed windows 7, works immediately - can over write with ubuntu later, then put ubuntu back to CD. I cant find an install file on the CD to initiate install Ubuntu.
any Ideas??

thanks to OLD GREY WOLF - installing desktop - then update.

Welcome to UF.
The 10.04 file is a .iso file. That means it isn't just burned to a disc, it must be burned as an image with something like ImgBurn (free program for Windows) or Brasero in Linux, to name two. This is the only way to make the disc bootable.

Hi uno at Work.
Here are two urls to free image burning software.
1. www.imgburn.com (http://www.imgburn.com)
2. http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

Hope this helps :)
