This seems to be a common hardware problem with these models, I haven't been able to find a solution yet. I am trying a new install of 10.04 desktop on a mini 311 with a new hard drive, no windows. It boots fine from the pendrive, but will not boot from the HD, just a blinking cursor on a black screen.

I am on a public computer now, so I can run diagnostics and post tomorrow. It seems that tweaking the files on the pendrive and reinstalling might do it. I just need to know what diagnostics to run.
