View Full Version : [gnome] Window Manager not managing

October 29th, 2010, 06:12 PM
After installing Maverick KDE on my iMac I installed Ubuntu and then removed Kubuntu. I was setting Ubuntu to my liking including window appearance. After a reboot I no longer have window management functions, I cannot switch between windows, cannot move windows, most windows cover the top left of the menu bar, and the Min-Max-Close buttons are all missing. When I open I get the message: 'Cannot start the preferences application for your window manager. Window manager "unknown" has not registered a configuration tool.'

I went ahead and removed compiz because there are no drivers for PPC, and ran 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm' but I'm still stuck with one static window in one application. Metacity is still installed and KDM is gone, what can I do to get control of my windows again?
