Repository key issues

I have a problem with receiving repository keys. I should confess that this is of my own creation. I use the Firestarter gui to set-up iptables and have been quite restrictive.

When I add a repository through the terminal or synaptic I get a key error basically telling me I don't have the key. Without adding another repository I cannot get the exact phrase. If I knock of the Firestarter firewall and try again the key is received and all works fine.

I assume I need to let something out or in through the firewall. Could someone please let me know what.

I have HTTP, HTTPS, and the necessities for email.
