In short: If I start SpeedCrunch (a desktop calculator) my desktop environment will restart (i.e. everything goes black and then the login page comes up) as soon as SpeedCrunch gets focus.
Some more details: I recently installed a new PC with Ubuntu 10.10 (I got there by initially installing a 9 version and then upgraded). My graphics card is a nVidia Quadro NVS 420 with four monitors attached. I'm running the proprietary nVidia driver ("current" version). No other application that I use causes this behavior (that I've seen). SpeedCrunch will do it consistently and predictably without fail.
I don't know where to start looking here. There doesn't seem to be anything of note in /var/log/Xorg.0.log. Any help is appreciated.
thanks,
David
