View Full Version : [ubuntu] Battery issue - please help!

I have a Toshibs Tecra M2 laptop that has Ubuntu 10.10 installed (dumped xp!), it works pefectly well when plugged in. but it doesn't work when unplugged.

The computer (or the LI-ion battery) 'thinks' that the battery is fully charged (so isn't charging it) but infact isn't holding much of one to the point that if you remove the AC power - the computer immediately goes off.

Now this also happened in window$, but I thought using the power of linux I could maybe reset the onboard battery circuit some how.

is there anyway of repairing the battery using some linux app (pref Gui, but if some one can give me step by step CL instructions i can do it).

Or (as is probably likely) the battery needs replacing (which is v.expensive).

or are there any other options??

...the battery will have reached EOL.
capacity nearly zero, means, you have to replace it by a new one.
