hey ubu-ers,
Being sick and twisted I like to run ubuntu on older hardware with minimal installs. I'm very attached to Slim, a lightweight login manager https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick/+source/slim/1.3.1-4 sometimes called a windows manager.
All good after upgrade, Maverick booted up through splash screen and then launches slim allowing login nicely --- until a recent update following which the splash screen just cycles. A recovery mode reboot shows that the process stops at the slim startup point, but no error messages are visible.
Occasionally booting in recovery mode and then switching to resume normal boot seems to fix the problem, but same deal when booting again later.
I've replicated this on two machines running maverick.
Any ideas kids?
