My install hangs at "Configuring hardware..."
Oct 26 00:36:09 ubuntu ubiquity: update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-22-generic

My hardware is a DX4200-UB101A. I am trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 64bit.

How long is it hanging?

Have you tried a 32 bit alternate install for comparison?

How long is it hanging? Hours. I even left it overnight, it was still at the same spot in the morning.

I will try the 64bit alternate and report back afterwards.

Installing with the alternate install ISO let it install completely. It is now working.

I still do not understand why the regular ISO was having problems.

It happens a lot. It is a pity that the alternate version is not promoted on www.ubuntu.com
