hi,

I am willing to move to ubuntu from windows. But my RAM is not enough(256mb but 254mb is shown). and i have a swap partition of 1.5GB. I created the partition using partition magic.

is there any way I can link the swap partition to the wubi and run ubuntu? because I am getting problems with the boot.

thank you.

You can use a normal swap partition with wubi. You add it exactly the same way as you would on a direct install. It even allows you to hibernate provided you update the relevant files.

However, this may not help with your ram issues. I have read about problems in e.g. ureadahead that can blow it's brains out on 256MB ram. You might want to consider some of the stripped down ubuntu's of which I know v. little.

To be honest, with that little RAM you need to either install more or choose a "lighter" variation.

Here is a list of possibilities:

Lubuntu
Xubuntu
Puppy Linux
SliTaz
AntiX
Damn Small Linux

My recommendation would be to give Lubuntu a try first.
