hey:I am an arch student and I am starting to use Linux more and more, so I would like to know what software you use for graphic presentation. I started using Linux because I was fed up with leaving my render up on windows to render overnight and windows crashing so I would have to rush on the mornig. I still use Maya on linux, but now that it belongs to Autodesk I don't know if I am going to keep on using it I am tryign to learn blender and I use Modo( soon to have a linux version) and Rhino. I also use Maxwell render . I have taken a look at the gimp, but prefer krita (even though they don't have all the features yet). I have also taken a look at cinepaint I must said that I though that the project was dead but in the last year they have made some nice improvments and Cinepaint glasgow should be nice. Ok so what other tools am I missing on?

Not an arch student, but I recomend Inkscape for vector graphics.

If you're into 3d modeling, check out blender3d.
