While hunting for the BosqueTK wallpaper from 10.04 I found this archive:
http://ubuntu.ecchi.ca/wallpapers/

It has the default wallpapers from the Ubuntu releases going back to Warty (4.10)

There are also deb packages in the repos with them I think.

I was always a big fan of Hardy Heron. It was my first glimpse of Ubuntu (my first of Linux in as long as I can remember) and I thought the artwork was great.

Joy! Just when I was lamenting the poor recent quality of wallpapers! Nice find, well done!

Yeah, this package contains a bug that sets your wallpaper to the WhiteOrchid one and changes your login wallpaper to it too.

EDIT:
The package is actually ubuntu-wallpapers-extra

Just download it manually and extract the wallpapers.

I didn't know of any bug I've used it in 10.04 and 10.10 without any unwanted changes.

lol you talking about the function or what the icon is?

icon wise, floppy diskette. My old gateway 500se has its floppy drive still. ...good times... still remember my first GUI computer was a Packard Bell Desktop with Win95. Don't remember the processor or how much ram it had. Just that it could store around 500-600MB lol. I often played the original C&C Redalert on it. Which my bro had ordered but decided he didn't want it so he gave it to me. My first intro into C&C games and its genre actually. And I still have the CD's ftw. They're badly scratched up but I have the images of them as well.

Function-wise the save button.

At anyrate your welcome folks. :)

Indeed, which is probably why Canonical removed them. But that site is a archive and those were once around and the site is just providing what was.

Thanks for the post.

I remember the wallpapers from Ubuntu 6.06 "Dapper Drake" LTS through the current release. 6.06 was probably the first one I used for any length of time.

I never was prone to keep the default wallpaper for any OS around for very long before I customized them.
