Installing ubuntu NBR in desktop which contains ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala

Hi,
this is my current Ubuntu history.

i got ubuntu desktop edition 9.10 installed on my desktop
and i got ubuntu netbook edition installed on my laptop.

i like the colors and interface of netbook editon much more than the desktop edition

so i want to

Install netbook edition in such a way, that when im logging in, i can select gnome or netbook edition.

how can i do it?

or my question in other words is that...

how do i install

KDE variant
and
netbook edition variant
in my current ubuntu desktop edition

i.e when im logging in, i can select, GNOME, or fail-safe GNOME, or KDE, or netbook remix
