Hi all:

I have recently tried a piece of software for the Windows collection of OS's and one feature in it impressed me, and I was wondering if something has a similar feature on Ubuntu.

Foobar (http://www.foobar2000.org) is a media player, similar to iTunes in many respects. The feature I like is that it can read music from an archived file (for instance, in a .zip file). This has the potential of clearing up a lot of space on one's hard drive. I have not tested it out, since I am running a virtual machine on Ubuntu, and if I can't play the music in both systems, then there's no reason to have it, I feel.

I tried looking for mentions of a feature like this in the help area for Rhythembox, and now am using Amarok (the most popular player for linux OS's that's under development according to alternativeto.net (http://alternativeto.net/software/amarok)), but never saw that listed in the features list.

Also, on a similar note, is there any place that lists various software for Ubuntu and the features that make it stand out from other similar software?
