How to upgrade from 9.04 to 10.04 LTS

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade my Ubuntu 9.04 to 10.04 LTS, the problem I had is that I changed the file /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades in this way:
prompt=lts

But, when I run do-relesase-upgrade I had this message:
Checking for a new ubuntu release
current dist not found in meta-release file
No new release found

Is there a way to update from 9.04 to 10.04 LTS?

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

No, you cannot upgrade directly to 10.04.

You have 2 options:

1. upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 and then from 9.10 to 10.04

2. backup all important data (which you should do also for option 1) and go for a fresh install of 10.04
