I'm trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 alternate but during the base install portion it always fails with some file can't be found. I've burned 3 or 4 cds two different sources. One was
http://ftp.ucsb.edu/pub/mirrors/linux/ubuntu/
the other http://ubuntu.osuosl.org/releases/

I then tried Ubuntu 10.04 i386 alternate, same results.

After dl, the md5 checksum matched up with the iso image, but when I run the "check disk for defects" on the cd it always fails with one file or another being corrupt.

Integrity test failed
The ./pool/main/b/bzrtools/bzrtools_2.1.0-1_all.deb file failed the MD5 checksum verification. Your CD-ROM or this file may have been corrupted.

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

Try burning the image at the lowest possible speed and perhaps consider getting some new CDs (the quality can sometimes make a difference).

Other than that, you may want to give the Alternate CD a try.

After trying to burn some centos iso's, I also got desk integrity errors. So I tried burning my cd, same iso file from another computer and that worked. I guess its my cd writer then. It was burning at 24x, I guess I'll try a slower speed next time.
