I'm using 10.04 with Compiz. I think there's a difference between numbe rof desktops and workspaces, but since Compiz won't allow me to increase the number of desktops from 1 this won't help (and maybe I would lose the 'move to workspace right' option and ctrl-alt-scroll workspace switcher?).
Having two virtual workspaces is fine except that windows from one workspace that hang off the side of the screen appear on the other workspace. Gimp is a prime example of this being really annoying - I often move the layer or toolbox window to the far side of the screen to stop it obscuring what I'm working on. These then appear on my second workspace.
How can I stop this?!
