I have a windows 7 desktop storing a great deal of music and video, and would like to access that media from my ubuntu 10.10 laptop via my wireless router. Ideally, I would be able to view the music in a media library (similar to itunes) on the laptop.
Is this possible?
Are there popular apps for this?

That functionality is included out of the box. Make the share on windows, and in ubuntu go to places > network and browse to the share. If prompted for login and password, use your windows account login and password.

Once that works, you can streamline the process by creating a bookmark for it, or a mountpoint and have rhythmbox or whatever music app you use, include that in its library.
