Upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 NVIDIA Problem

so I upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 and the computer worked perfect on 10.04. With the new upgrade 10.10 is choppy and can't handle my computer for some odd reason. I then disabled my nvidia driver and it runs fine without the ability to watch movies view flash or use compiz or play games. Pretty much junked my computer... so I uninstalled my driver and reinstalled it and yet there is no change in appearance or ability to see what is going on rather than having my screen be choppy and laggy. What can I do?
