10.10 with 2.6.32 kernel

Is there a way to use meerkat with the 2.6.32 kernel?

I upgraded to 10.10 using the update manager and when I re-booted all I got was a blank screen. I re-booted again and at the Grub menu (I have other Ubuntu variants installed) used the previous kernel version and booted into my 10.10 desktop ok. Don't know why that happened, can't find a solution on the forums yet, but at least I have my desktop intact.
