Wireless not connecting

please help, i recently installed ubuntu 10.10 to my laptop, Dell Inspiron 1501 that comes with windows vista. Not sure if that was the smart choice but i been hearing that it is the best operating system there is.

The current connection i use is wired but i want to make it wireless as my computer comes with a wireless car installed. Anyone knows how to solve this problem? i have read the forums and done every step but maybe i though it was my computer that is different to their.. I will highly appreciate any inputs.

Lots of troubleshooting tips here. I would make sure your device is compatible as well. The more information you include in the thread, the better. Also Ubuntu 10-10 is the best OS. :)

Need to know what wireless card your computer has please post output of following

sudo lshw -C network
iwconfig
ifconfig
